Importing commodities to New Zealand

PIER Search

Commodity imports to New Zealand must be assessed before they are allowed in.

MPI assesses the biosecurity risks of importing each commodity, and decides whether importation should be allowed, and from which countries. We write import health standards (IHSs), listing what needs to be done so that different commodities can be safely imported into New Zealand.

PIER Search enables you to search for commodities and the countries you wish to import from, provides a high-level snapshot of what is required, and includes direct links to the official documentation.

PIER Search includes information about a wide range of commodity types, expanded and updated regularly. PIER Search commodity types
